What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The programes I used were Photoshop and Microsoft Word. I learnt alot from using photoshop to help me use different fonts and editing photos to make them seem more magazine like. There were some disadvatages from using photoshop, as its such a big programe it would crash alot from when i would be sorting my magazine out and im not that confident on photoshop so i found it hard sometimes to get things how i wanted them to be like. another thing i learnt from constructing this product was how i took my images for the magazine, as i had to make sure that the images were taken with the right camera angles so that it would help attract my target audience to buy my magazine.

How did you attract/address your audience?

For my magazine, i made sure that i used the right language to make sure that my target audience are definatly attracted to my magazine. The audience would be attraced because of what the magazine contains which suits them, which may be there type of bands they listen to or maybe the type of adverts placed in the magazine. And i could point out that they would be attracted to it because of the subjective gaze, which is the phototgraph at the front which is a powerful picture. Also, when they see that there are compitetions and gigs being advertised, they will want to find out more so they will buy the magazine.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

The things which could be advertised in my magazine could be related to music and even gigs. Because if a band advertise there gig people will want to buy a ticket and will hopefully make more people buy the magazine as they know they are advertising good gigs. The albums they promote could have a review beside them like Kerrang! so that audience know if they should buy the album which alos helps the artist with promotion.
In the magazine there could be advertisements in between pages, which could be promoting fashion such as TopShop, DropDead clothing and loud clothing etc. Which the target audience would relate to buying from. You would also see adverts for festivals which are happening at the moment to make sure you know whats happening around the country and they want you involved in all types of things.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The publishers who would probably publish my type of magazine would be IPC media because from my research they would publish such magazines as NME, which is very simular to my type of magazine who is published Time Warner. The advantage of using such a big company is that your magazine would get alot of publicity around the world, which will help your magazine get the right audience. But the disadvantages of using a big company is that it could get over competitive with all the different magazines their publishing. The advantages of using a smaller company is that they i'll work on your magazine much more in depth to help you get the right audience.

For my magazine i would want it to go to a big company to help get it publishedto the right shops such as WH Smith. But there can also be problems with the editorial independance where the profits of my magazine wouldn't be as high and wouldn't get much promotion. There would be an online version of my magazine, which could have have sponsers involved for awards ceremonies and could advertise such companys as itunes, new look etc. But it can depend on the scale of the venture, genre of music and the target audience.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The social group i am representing in my magazine would have to be the heavy rockers and maybe emos, depnding on what is in the magazine every week when its published. From the photo i took, i used an image from the band paramore to help me decide on how to consider how it should be composed. i wanted to get emma to be the center of attention, so i made her stand like hayley williams so that when they look at the image they will look at her straight away. I made sure they looked straight at the camera so it grabs the attention of the audience. I believe that my magazine would try and promote more of the music than the fashion lifestyle, as my magazine is simular to Kerrang! which usually promotes gigs and albums from a variety of rock artists.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of realy media products?

My magazine uses most of the conventions which a magazine would usually use, such as the Masthead, coverlines, bar code, price etc. I went with going with the name 'Scream!' as my magazine is very simular to Kerrang!, and most people who read Kerrang! will listen to scream music and heavy metal, because thats who the magazine is aimed to. Which could be challenged with other leading rock magazines such as Kerrang! and Rocksound.
The genre of my magazine i have created is for the rock/heavy metal audience like Kerrangs! audience. I have managed to use the same design as Kerrang! magazine.

Such as using not too many images on the front cover, so it doesnt over crowd the cover. And I have managed to place the masterhead at the top of the cover also. I didnt use alot of props for the images because i believe that my type of magazine didnt need any involved. And also i made sure that the images were correct, such as being in the middle and made sure they stood with an attitude. I made sure that the language type on my magazine would be aimed at teenagers, because from my research i have discovered that mostly teenagers would read Kerrang! I made sure that on my contents page i involved the regular features such as cover stories, gig reviews etc. On the double page spread i made sure i used all the right conventions such as full quotes, gutters, drop cap etc.
